Favorite Summer Lip Colors!

While considering what to blog about in my first post, I came to the conclusion that a "favorite summer lip colors" post would be a topic I could write on and on about, and would be gorgeous to take pictures for! I believe I can safety say that out of all makeup, lipstick is my favorite to use:)  I've been on summer break for about a month now, and am certainly seeing a pattern developing in my beauty routine- for every occasion, I've been using one of these 3 lipsticks, which I absolutely adore!

(From left to right: Revlon Lip Butter in Wild Watermelon, Maybelline Colorsensational Lipstick in Vivid Rose, and Clinique Chubbystick in Chunky Cherry)

The colors look pretty similar when they aren't being worn or swatched, so I knew a quick swatch would be necessary to show how these lipsticks are each appropriate for different occasions. I'm clearly a lover of a deep pink lip, probably because of the contrast between my fair skin and dark hair.

I hope this picture displays what I'll explain. (Left-Revlon Lipbutter in Wild Watermellon, Clinique Chubbystick, Maybelline Vivid Rose.)

The Lipbutter I could go on and on about. The whole line is absolutely fantastic, and I own probably a few too many of them:) There's a great amount of pigmentation in this lipbutter, and as the name suggests, it's so incredibly smooth and buttery! Although I love so many of these precious colors, Wild Watermelon truly stands out for the summer- it's such a fun color, but it's not too BAM IN YOUR FACE! (does that make sense?) Basically, you can see it's a great color, but it won't look like you're wearing too much makeup for a summer day. I pair it with my Naked palette and wear it to my job at Aerie, wear it on date nights with my boyfriend, and to church with a cute sundress and curls.

The Chubbystick has been a favorite of mine for a year now. It's definitely the most sheer of the three, which makes it great for a day at the pool or beach. I use it instead of a normal SPF lipbalm when I'm out in the sun because it's very moisturizing and leaves you with a beautiful pink tint. The application, (I'm sure you've already guessed this) is so incredibly smooth and nourishing.

Maybelline Vivid Rose- This is probably my favorite shade of lipstick I own. I love the pop of color this gives me on my fair skin, and when I put on a pair of cat-eye sunglasses and high waisted shorts, I feel as though I'm channeling my inner 1960's fashionista. It's such a fun lipstick for the summer, especially if you're heading into the city with friends or spending the night on the boardwalk. I definitely wear a neutral eye with this sensational color- normally a champagne colored shadow (Stilla Kitten or Urban Decay Sin), a liquid liner, and mascara on my outer lashes. I am SO into this look for the summer.

Let me know if you try out any of these colors- I couldn't recommend them enough! Hope you enjoyed this post and follow me throughout my beauty treasure hunts:) Of course, comment below with any questions, or just to say hi:)

Have fun!!!

Hello there!

I'll start this blog with a quick introduction- I'm Lauren, a 19 year old college student with a love for Jesus, beauty, and all things vintage. I am a firm believer that the World War II era truly did make the "Greatest Generation" and am a patriot for my beautiful country: I live in the land of the free, and the home of the brave! America's favorite pastime, baseball, is another love of mine- I'm a serious Phillie Phanatic and could talk about baseball for hours. Although I'm not quite sure what I'm going to do with the Communications degree I'm pursuing, I know I'm definitely a PR girl at heart and love raving about my favorite products and finds to my friends- hopefully this blog will be a great supplement for my product raves!

This blog will hopefully include a lovely plethora of beauty, etiquette, music, photography, DIYs, advice and other inspiring finds!  And the #1 disclaimer I must include on this blog (since many posts will be makeup related): I truly do believe that girls don't need makeup! I see makeup as an enchanting accessory to play around with, but not a necessity to be beautiful. This blog won't preach that in any way. I'll be using this blog as an outlet to share the small treasures I discover while experiencing life, becoming inspired through art and fashion, and while using makeup!
